Originated through accident, when, during the long and slow journeys from India's Malabar Coast to Europe in the holds of wooden ships, the high humidity and battering of the sea wind would cause the coffee beans to ripen from fresh green to a aged pale yellow with a distinct mellow taste, low on acidity.
Now Monsooned Malabar is kept in an open structure protected from the rain, where over a 2 to 3 month period the pure Arabica bean is exposed to the moist tropical air from the monsoon.

Our Monsoon Malabar is a premium quality Arabica bean, grown on the Bibi Plantation by Faiz Moosakutty and his family 1000 to 2000 metres above sea level and monsooned on the coast in Karnataka State.The Bibi Plantation has small residences for all the workers as well as dairy, rice paddies, to support them and their family.
Its unique bold flavour has been used in espresso blends in recent years, particularly popular in some of the premium Scandinavian espresso blends. We offer the highest grade Monsooned Malabar pure and simple.
